YouTube via VLC, Version 2

Note: This post has been superseded with a newer one.

Well, I updated my YouTube VLC viewer, surprisingly I’ve managed to make it work with Windows Media Player as well, I wonder how I accomplished that…

Here’s the script.

YouTube made some small changes to the script, but apparently it’s a one character fix to the script, change one “&” to “;” and everything works again. Even more strange…

Sorry, my net was out for a while.

The new script file doesn’t exist (404 error). I’ve tried to make the change myself to the older one, but it didn’t work out.

Oops, I put in the wrong domain for the URL. It should work now, at least the downloading part. The playing part works on my computer as well (I did a fresh “re-install” of the script, and it works). Sorry to make you the guinea pig, but would you be willing to test it? :)

Of course, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to replace that annoying youtube player.

Alright I’ve done a fresh install of the new script but it still doesnt work here. I’m going to try reinstalling the latest version of VLC.

I also have several other youtube related greasemonkey scripts, but I’ve disabled them for the moment (not uninstalled). But that shouldn’t interfere with yours though right?

    UPDATE: This is now suddenly working. However;

    1) It will only work if i go through the search results in Google Video (video.google.com)
    2) It’s only embedding Windows Media Player.

    Question for ya:

I want to download YouTube videos and embed them in my wordpress blog so as not to worry about the videos being removed. Do you know how to do this?

    Thanks!

    Hi!

The script does not work on Mac OS X 10.4.10 / Firefox 2.0.0.7 / VLC Plugin 0.8.6c. I need this too much! It disables flash player somehow (the part of the screen where the video is located appears blank), but it does not start vlc.

    Thank you,

    It’s not working anymore.
Will you release a new version of this script?
