Apparently alcohol makes you happy, and being happy while welcoming the new year is a good thing.
So today is the 3rd holy shit, 4th! of January, and I’m not drunk, and I’m no longer happy.
I thought I’d start blogging again on January 1st, but back then I was happy and giddy. The day after that the happiness subsided, and the idea too.
Anyway, I’m old, I can remember what I was doing 10 years ago, and what the world was like. I commented on Boing Boing:
I wonder what 2020 will be like. From a tech point of view, 10 years ago practically all cameras used film[*], mobile phones had monochrome text displays, “google” was not yet a verb, there was no Facebook, DVD’s were exotic, etc, etc.
* actually I remember seeing a digital camera in Australia, which I left 1 month before the year 2000. It’s point of pride was it saved the images directly onto a 3.5″ floppy disk, so you can just insert that disk into your computer, and voila, your images are on the computer!
Anyway, I made a decade resolution 3 or 4 days ago, I will celebrate NYE 2020 on the balcony of my New York Penthouse. Somehow that crazy idea deflated and that just now I felt it was impossible, but typing it down made it like a real achievable dream that I can aspire to again…
But why New York anyway? What will the USA, and the world, be like in 10 years? If you believe Dmitry Orlov like I do, the US is going to collapse like the USSR, and then who would want to live there? Or maybe it’ll be a land ripe for the picking just like Russia.
